2012: Year of the immaterial heritage in the Netherlands; the ISSA is engaged

Wednesday, 21 December 2011
The year of the immaterial heritage is a large scale publicity campaign to raise the awareness of the Dutch population of the immaterial heritage.
Jaar van het Immaterieel Erfgoed NL

Heritage is more than just buildings and special objects. Heritage can be found throughout traditions and rituals, in the cultural baggage that we inherited from home.

The Dutch government has announced that they soon will ratify the  UNESCO convention of the immaterial heritage. By doing so, The Netherlands commits itself to chart its own cultural heritage, document it and take measures  to safeguard it. The Dutch Centre of Folk Culture and Immaterial Heritage  has started to raise awareness within the local organizations.

Please join the year of the immaterial heritage and start  an activity to promote your own immaterial heritage, an exciting manifestation, an exhibition or any other project.
