NOAH - ship in distress

The NOAH is a sailing ship, flying the flag of Austria, where children and adolescents, who are on the shadow side of life, get extra therapy.

They have been taken from their families, where they have been bullied and humilated for many years, sometimes even abused. These young people now live in professionally run groups in Vienna. These groups are led by social pedagogue Herbert Siegrist, who also owns the ship.

Spending time on the NOAH means vor 'his' children, but also for children from other homes and institutions, a special charitable experience. The long voyages of seven to nine months habe proven successfully for these children with often difficult problems, as the only alternative for therapy ashore. Because only after prolonged support, one for one, with close contact due to the confined space on board enables access to these traumatized young people.

Unfortunately the bad state of the ship prevented long voyages since 2006. Private assets, needed to maintain and repair the ship had run out. The support of the government is limitied to the support of the children. The ship as a floating therapy institution was about to be discarded.
